My Platform:

The Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan

The LWRP must be recognized and adhered to as the blueprint for our developmental decisions.

Transparency

Too many decisions that affect our Village are made without full transparency. I intend to change that. The Board's agenda needs to be more easily accessible and available to the public so the residents know what is being discussed before the meeting, not learning about it afterwards. I will also work to increase attendance at the meetings, both in person and/or electronically, so that decisions affecting all of us are made by all of us.

Co-operation Between Boards

As a member of Joint Coastal I have long felt that there should be a unifying mission statement or an articulated vision for this Village - thereby ensuring that Planning, Zoning, Architectural Review and Joint Coastal all worked together collaboratively towards the same goals.

Re-opening Community Access Roads

We must find a compromise to reopening the three community access roads to the harbor. As an avid kayaker myself, I know just how much the addition of kayak racks to those sites would mean to the community.

Save Flowerfield

The Village and its residents have made it clear - they want to preserve our historic corridor and open spaces. That's why I support Mayor Dahlgard's call for the entire property to be preserved as a park. Short of that, the compromise plan, whereby half remains open space and half is developed is acceptable to the community. Unfortunately, we now have another threat to that area as Albany is seeking land on which to build affordable housing. Whether it's housing or an office complex, the bottom line is the same - the narrow, two-lane road that is 25A, can not accommodate the additional traffic.

Roads and Drainage

As I've been canvasing the Village and speaking with neighbors, many have expressed concerns about speeding, road maintenance and improving drainage. I look forward to working with Highway Commissioner, Judy Ogden, to address these issues.
